Packaging Specification Glossary

In the process of creating packaging mock-ups, Design Dept. will include information on each packaging specifications in the artwork as per the standard templates here: Z:\Shared drives\AdvaCare Marketing Control\Marketing Manuals\AdvaCare Packaging\AW Template
This glossary is intended for reference of the company’s standard packaging specification and provide example of each specification.

GENERAL:

1) CARTON

• Material: 5-layer corrugate paper
  A sturdy box for transport use made of corrugated paperboard in 5-layers.

PHARMACEUTICALS:

2) BOX

Material: 350g white-white cardboard, folding box board
Paperboard white on both sides, to be printed on one side, folded and glued for retail purpose.

Coating:

• Small boxes (up to 50 blisters): Aqueous Coating
  Paper coating that provides a medium-gloss, satin, or soft touch finish.
• Large boxes (most commonly 100 blisters): film coated, glossy
  Paper coating that provides a high-gloss, silky, smooth touch finish.

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom / Reverse Tuck Box / Straight Tuck Box
  Different top and bottom flap designs to provide different box closures.

3) BLISTER

• Material: Alu+PVC / Alu+Alu + 0.3-0.5mm
  Strip providing tamper-proof product seals generally used in tablets, capsules, and softgels.

4) INSERT

• Material: 70g double offset paper
  Standard front-back printing in color or black and white without coating.

5) LABEL

• Material: 80g, film coated
  Standard colored printing on one side with light gloss.

6) TUBE

• Material: Aluminum / Plastic / Aluminum + Plastic
  Container for topical products.

7) AMPOULE PRINT

• Print Type: Ceramic
  Glass printing with texture of printed text.

MEDICAL DEVICES:

1) BOX

• Coating: film-coated, glossy
  Paper coating that provides a high-gloss, silky, smooth touch finish.
• Material: 350g white-white cardboard, folding box board / corrugated cardboard
  White-white cardboard used in smaller/lighter items. Corrugated cardboard used in bulkier/heavier items.

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom, Reverse Tuck Box, Straight Tuck Box
  Different top and bottom flap designs to provide different box closures.

2) INSERT

• Material: 70g double offset paper / 157g coated paper:
  70g double offset paper: Standard front-back printing in color or black and white without coating for standard product inserts.
  157g coated paper: glossy paper generally used in booklet-type inserts.

3) LABEL

• Material: 80g, film coated
  Standard colored printing on one side with light gloss.

4) SACHET

• Material Specification: Aluminum / Plastic
  Pack consisting of two printed layers of aluminum/plastic heat-pressed on 4 ends to provide closure.

VETERINARY:

1) BOX

• Material: 350g white-white cardboard
  Paperboard white on both sides, to be printed on one side, laminated, folded and glued for retail purpose.
• Coating: film coated, glossy
  Paper coating that provides a high-gloss, silky, smooth touch finish.

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom, Reverse Tuck Box, Straight Tuck Box
  Different top and bottom flap designs to provide different box closures.

2) BLISTER

  Pack consisting of two printed or labeled layers of aluminum/plastic heat-pressed on 4 ends to provide closure.

SUPPLEMENTS:

PREMIUM SUPPLEMENTS

1) BOX

• Material: 350g silver-based folding cardboard box
  Printed on one side with silver base.
• Coating: film-coated with raised lettering and UV
  Film-coated with raised lettering and UV effects:

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom, Reverse Tuck Box, Straight Tuck Box
  Different top and bottom flap designs to provide different box closures.

2) LABEL

• Material: silver-based paper, thickness: 0.07mm, coated with glossy varnish and shiny effects
  Printed, thin, and glossy foil-like label with shiny effects on certain design elements.

3) INSERT

• Material: 105g color print
  Color printed glossy paper.

NON-PREMIUM SUPPLEMENTS

1) BOX

Material:

• Boxes with large bottles (500cc/750cc): 400g white-white folding cardboard box
• Boxes with blisters/small bottles: 350g white-white folding cardboard box
  Paperboard white on both sides, to be printed on one side, laminated, folded and glued for retail purpose.

Coating: film coated, glossy
Paper coating that provides a high-gloss, silky, smooth touch finish.

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom, Reverse Tuck Box, Straight Tuck Box
  Different top and bottom flap designs to provide different box closures.

2) LABEL

• Material: 80g, film coated
  Standard colored printing on one side with light gloss.
  OR
• Material: silver-based paper, thickness: 0.07mm, coated with glossy varnish and shiny effects
  Printed, thin, and glossy foil-like label with shiny effects on certain design elements.

• Material: 70g double offset paper
  Standard front-back printing in color or black and white without coating.

GUMMIES (Kids)

1) BOX

• Material: 400g white-white folding cardboard box with window display
  Thicker printed box with white base and a fraction of two sides cut for display of gummy bottles, also color printed on the inside top closure.

• Coating: film-coated, glossy
  Paper coating that provides a high-gloss, silky, smooth touch finish.

• Box Closure: Lock Bottom Box
  Locks in the bottom for additional weight support.

2) LABEL

• Material: 80g clear PP with bronzing effects
  Printed transparent smooth plastic layer with bronzing effects on certain elements.

PET SUPPLEMENTS:

1) LABEL

• Material: 80g white-based, matte coated with UV effects
  Standard colored printing on one side with matte, soft touch coating and UV effects on certain elements.
