This document will provide a quick guide for the IT Administrator to understand how to request the outsourcing of the installation of applications/software in general.
Usually, a request for outsourcing the installation of software would be needed when it’s not feasible to perform this installation in-house for different reasons/limitations: unavailability of software in the inventory, incompatibility of programs in the system, time-consuming activity that can be outsourced quickly, etc.
The steps to request software installation service are as follows:
1. Create a task in Odoo describing the software installation request.
2. Quote with
Acer Office Service
for the cost of the service and arrange the delivery time of the service.
3. Notify about this request to the Administration and/or Accounting Department through a comment in a task.
4. Receive approval from the Administration and/or Accounting Department as a comment in the created task.
5. Take the computer to the
Acer Office Service
and inform the responsible person which software needs to be installed (e.g. "Windows 10" in English language, “Adobe Photoshop” in Chinese, etc.).
7. Confirm in the created task that the application has been installed and payment is required at this point.
8. Receive confirmation that payment has been remitted.
Most common Software Installation to be Outsourced:
Installing the Operating System in a computer is considered a very common activity to be outsourced, since it will be a time-consuming activity from the performer's side to complete it. It’s recommendable that the IT Manager considers the outsourcing of the OS installation.
Similarly, it’s possible to find other scenarios when an application installation is required, for example the installation of Design software like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw or Collaborative programs like Microsoft Office, etc. Considering the required licenses or activation to start using these programs it’s important at the same time.
